About the Procedure
What is MonaLisa Touch?
MonaLisa Touch is a CO2 fractional laser device that delivers gentle laser energy to the inner and outer vaginal tissue. The energy stimulates cell turnover and the development of new collagen, a skin-strengthening compound, to restore health in your vagina. The procedure is noninvasive, nonsurgical, and doesn’t require anesthesia.
Who is a good candidate?
MonaLisa Touch is a superior treatment for menopausal women experiencing vaginal symptoms due to decreased levels of estrogen. Women who are in the postnatal period or recovering from cancer treatment may also benefit. MonaLisa Touch can resolve:
Vaginal itching and dryness
Painful intercourse
Vaginal atrophy
Mild urinary incontinence

Talk to our specialist about your symptoms and concerns. We can help you determine if MonaLisa Touch is the right course of treatment to bring your relief.
What should I expect during a MonaLisa Touch session?
You lay on an exam table, much like you do for an annual pelvic exam. Our specialist then uses a sterile vaginal probe to apply the laser energy in and around your vaginal region. You’ll feel some warmth, but the procedure isn’t painful. The entire laser treatment takes about five minutes.
How many treatments will I need?
Most women benefit from three treatments, spaced about six weeks apart. You will start to notice benefits after the first session but following through with all three gives you optimal results. Many women elect a yearly maintenance session as well. Our specialist can put together a treatment plan appropriate for you.
Does MonaLisa Touch require downtime?
The MonaLisa Touch is a noninvasive treatment, therefore there is usually little to no downtime after the initial procedure. It is recommended to refrain from sexual activity for the first three days. You may experience swelling, redness, itching or inflammation.
Do I have to complete three treatments?
Throughout the course of the three treatments, the laser intensity may increase. Some women see noticeable results after one treatment, but some develop more gradually. We recommend receding three treatments because it stimulates maximum healing within the vaginal area and gives the body time to respond by generating new, healthy tissue.
How often do you have to receive maintenance?
We recommend a once-a-year single treatment to maintain symptom relief.
